The objective of this certification program is to create comprehensive, universally accepted professional standards combined with an objective measure of an interviewer's knowledge of those standards.
The ultimate goal is that every person and every organization with a stake in interviewing will benefit from the program, as will the reputation and effectiveness of the entire profession.
Why Become a CFI?
• Decrease exposure to liability
• Promote individuals with proven knowledge and training
• Stand out when the next promotion comes around
• Raise professional standards and accountability
• Increase confession and conviction rates
"The goal of this exam is two-fold," explains Mike Keenan, CFI, Director of Loss Prevention for Bananna Republic and past-chairman of the LP council for the National Retail Federation. "First, to make sure candidates understand the fundamentals of interviewing. That means knowing suspects' rights and what an interviewer can and can't do. Second, they should know the basic investigative steps that lead to the highest success rates, such as preparation, how to use evidence, and certain interviewing techniques."
If you do not pass the examination, you may schedule an examination appointment by contacting AMP at
www.goAMP.com or 1-888-519-9901 and paying a $220 re-examination fee. There is a sixty day waiting period between examination attempts. Individuals are limited to three attempts per year to pass the CFI Examination.
